Big News!

Well, the cat is out of the bag, Brian and I are expecting a baby! Our little one is due on January 16, 2011. We are just thrilled to be bringing a new life into the world and cannot wait to meet our son OR daughter! Remember this post: Mother's Day Recap... , well, we failed to mention that Mother's Day was extra special this year, it was the day we found out I would also be a mommy soon! Our families were both planning to come over for lunch that day, little did we all know, we ended up having big news to share. It was so special telling our families all at once. The variety of emotions seen from 8 different people at one time were fun to watch...tears of joy, squeals of excitement and we almost had a "fainter" from the shock and happiness! It was a special day that we will never forget.

Don't worry, I'll use this blog to post the oh so anticipated baby bump pictures and provide updates as the baby continues to grow and we start putting the nursery together. We look forward to sharing this journey with all of our friends and family.

This picture was taken on Mother's Day!

Celebrating Dad

Dad and Jordan left for a Baltimore Mission Trip yesterday morning, so we had an early Father's Day celebration on Friday evening at our house. We grilled pizzas - a summertime favorite! If you haven't tried throwing pizzas on the grill, we highly recommend it, gives it that ole "brick oven" taste!

Here are some more pictures of dad and his girls, we truly are blessed. We all just adore our daddy. His character, kindness and love for all of us is more than we could have ever asked for in a father. Love you lots dad!!

3 years!

Last Wednesday Brian and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary. It seems like June 2, 2007 was only yesterday. Time sure does fly when you are having fun. I could not be more grateful for the loving husband that I am so lucky to have. These 3 years have without a doubt been the best and I look forward to many more.

XOXO!

Mother's Day Recap...

What a gorgeous day we had here in Charlotte on Sunday, Mother's Day. Brian and I had our families over to celebrate the wonderful mothers we have in our lives. We had a nice lunch outside while sitting and catching up with one another. Cameron came to town also, this was a treat as well! Here are a few more photos from the day:

THANK YOU MOM for all that you do! Love you!

Citrus Shrimp Skewers

Tis the season for "grilling out"! I thought I would pass along one of our very favorite spring time recipes:

12 ounces uncooked tail-on medium shrimp (peel and devein)
2 lemons
2 limes
½ cup orange marmalade
1 T. vegetable oil
1 large garlive clove,pressed
1 T. fresh cilantro, chopped
½ tsp. ground red pepper

Thread shrimp onto skewers and place in large baking dish.

Juice lemons and limes, pour into a small bowl. You should have about ¼ cup of each juice. Add orange marmalade, oil, cilantro and red pepper. Whisk.

Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade for basting. Pour remaining marinade over shrimp. Marinate in refrigerateor 45 minutes to 1 hour, turning occasionally. DO NOT marinade more than 1 hour or the shrimp will get mushy.

Remove skewers from the marinade; discard marinade. Place skewers on grid of grill; brush with reserved marinade. Grill, uncovered, 5-6 minutes or until shrimp appear opaque.

Menu Suggestion: Serve with grilled tomatoes (brushed with marinade), a vegetable slaw, and a salad of mixed greens with fruit.

Hoppy Easter!

We had a wonderful time at Sunset Beach this past weekend, celebrating the Easter holiday. The gorgeous weather allowed us to take boat rides, visit Treasure Island, fish and catch some sun. It is such a blessing to be able to spend time with family at our very favorite place!

Jordan made some awesome cupcakes for the weekend!

Stella was in high heaven the whole weekend, she might just love the beach more than we do:
